VITTORIO MORETTI NAMED KNIGHT OF THE ORDER OF MERIT FOR LABOUR

TECHNOLOGY, SUSTAINABILITY AND CORPORATE CULTURE:
RECOGNITION FOR A BUILDER OF GEOGRAPHIES

Erbusco, 30 May 2025 – The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, today conferred the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro on Vittorio Moretti, on the recommendation of the Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, and in agreement with the Minister for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida.

This recognition rewards a coherent and innovative entrepreneurial vision that has successfully combined agricultural development, hospitality, environmental sustainability and technology applied to production processes. Founder of the Holding Terra Moretti group, Cavaliere Moretti has built a unique business model, in which respect for the land, the quality of human relations and attention to beauty come together in a cohesive and generative ecosystem.

With a total of over 2,100 hectares, including 1,160 hectares of vineyards, which extend across three Italian regions – Lombardy (Franciacorta) with Bellavista and Contadi Castaldi, Tuscany with Petra, Teruzzi and Tenuta La Badiola, and Sardinia with Sella & Mosca – Terra Moretti is a recognised leader in quality Italian agriculture. The group now has six wineries and two resorts, L'Albereta in Franciacorta and L'Andana in Tuscany, offering a combination of wine production, cultural tourism and high-profile hospitality. The agricultural heart of the group has always been the driving force behind every strategic decision: the land is seen as an asset to be protected, innovated and restored. Precision agriculture, light-handed oenology, the protection of biodiversity and the integration of knowledge between generations make the Terra Moretti project a model example of how it is possible to elevate Italian rural life to an advanced and replicable model.

Alongside the wineries, the Terra Moretti signature resorts – L’Albereta in Franciacorta and L’Andana in Maremma – represent a natural extension of this vision: places where architecture, wellness and landscape interact in harmony to offer a complete experience for travellers and enthusiasts. These resorts are now recognised as some of the most significant incarnations of Italian hospitality, combining culinary excellence, the art of hospitality, respect for the land and environmental enhancement. Their agricultural identity is complemented by a commitment to architecture and landscaping, thanks to an advanced interpretation of ‘building’: from underground wineries to sustainable prefabricated units and the regeneration of villages, quarries and forgotten places.

The courage to innovate in established and traditional sectors, rather than following the same old logic, is key to the group’s as well as each individual company’s development and growth. This pattern is successfully repeated in every area of activity and location. However, it is precisely in deeply rooted tradition that this innovation finds its balance: knowledge passed down, craftsmanship and manual skills preserved and transmitted over time form the basis of a business model with a long-term outlook. Terra Moretti’s ongoing development is nourished by its personal technical and cultural memory bank, ensuring its continued relevance, concreteness and vitality for future generations.

Over the years, Vittorio Moretti has created an integrated industrial system that generates value for the local area, promotes new skills and fosters an entrepreneurial culture based on responsibility. Today, Vittorio is joined by his three daughters – Carmen, Francesca and Valentina Moretti in the role of vice presidents – and the CEO of the group, Massimo Tuzzi, confirming a long-term vision shared with the management and fuelled by the contribution of almost a thousand employees. In 2018, together with his wife Mariella Bertazzoni, Vittorio Moretti established the Fondazione Vittorio and Mariella Moretti, which handed back a symbolic asset such as the Convento della Santissima Annunciata di Rovato to the local community. A private property linked to the Monastic Order of the Servants of Mary since 1449, the convent is also part of the area’s collective heritage due to its deep ties with the Franciacorta community. The thousand-year-old vineyard, its location on Monte Orfano and its spiritual value make it a unique and protected place. Today, with the restoration of the winery and the eleven monks’ cells, the Convent is reborn in the spirit of respect for the place and its roots, becoming a strategic tool for transmitting the values of the company and the family that founded it.

The title of Knight of the Order of Merit for Labour (Cavaliere del Lavoro) is a tribute to an entrepreneurial journey that has successfully reinterpreted the Italian tradition of ‘savoir faire’ in a contemporary key, combining innovation and history, technology and beauty, corporate culture and love for the land.

Upon receiving the news of the honour, Vittorio Moretti wanted to share a message of gratitude, addressed first and foremost to his family – and in particular to his wife Mariella – and to all the group’s employees, whom he considers to be a living part of a single large family business.

30 May 2025
“It is with particular joy that I have received, today, from the President of the Republic the news of my appointment as ‘Cavaliere del Lavoro’. This honour, established in 1901, is awarded on Republic Day to entrepreneurs who “through business development, have contributed to economic and social growth and innovation”.
My life, like our Republic, has been founded on work, as you all know very well. The sort of Work with a capital ‘W’ that gives meaning to every day and makes it possible to engage with our dreams while keeping our feet on the ground. That Work in which not only each of you has an important role, but also your families. Because in my ‘accounting’ as a business manager, you are not just 992 employees, but 992 families. Indeed, there are 993, because among them is my own family and, in particular, Mariella, who has given me the support and strength to raise a family and grow a business.
This recognition therefore also belongs to you, to Mariella and to my family.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO AND HAVE DONE FOR OUR COMPANY.
Since 2nd June, we are all ‘Cavalieri del Lavoro’.
See you all soon to raise and glass and celebrate together.

The estates, which are deeply rooted in their respective territories, promote sustainable practices, precision agriculture and light-handed winemaking.
Completing the agricultural vision are two resorts that represent the dimension of hospitality: L'Albereta Relais & Châteaux in Erbusco (BS), with its Chenot Espace wellness centre and cuisine by Alberto Quadrio and Franco Pepe; L'Andana Tenuta La Badiola, Leading Hotels of the World in Castiglione della Pescaia (GR), with a Michelin-starred restaurant run by chef Enrico Bartolini.
The parent company of the group, Moretti S.p.A., specialises in industrialised multi-material construction systems and is recognised for its focus on sustainable architecture.
