Vittorio Moretti was born in Florence in 1941 into a family with deep and ancient roots in the art of building. In 1948, he moved to Milan, where his father founded a construction company. Here he began working in the family business and attended the Technical Institute for Construction.
1967: he returned to his homeland, Franciacorta, and founded Moretti S.p.A., a company specialising in industrialised construction and prefabrication. Since then, his vision has expanded and developed into an entrepreneurial system that encompasses the worlds of wine, hospitality and ethos of the landscape.
1977: he founded Bellavista, now a symbol of Italian winemaking excellence and cultural partner of Teatro La Scala in Milan.
1987: Contadi Castaldi was founded, an innovative and cutting-edge winery built inside a converted old brickworks.
1993: he transforms a manor house in Franciacorta into the L’Albereta resort, part of the Relais & Châteaux chain, with master chef Gualtiero Marchesi at the helm of the kitchen right from the outset and for 20 years.
1997: he founded Petra in Suvereto in Val di Cornia, and in 2003 he built the new winery designed by architect Mario Botta, now considered one of the most beautiful wineries in the world.
2000: he acquired a 500-hectare estate in Castiglione della Pescaia that had belonged to Grand Duke Leopold II of Tuscany and built L’Andana, a resort complex, with Alain Ducasse at the helm of the kitchen, followed by Enrico Bartolini.
2016: he acquired the estates of Sella & Mosca (Sardinia) and Teruzzi (San Gimignano), regenerating the vineyards and developing hospitality and the entire wine production.
2018: with his wife Mariella, and daughters Carmen, Francesca and Valentina, he founded the Vittorio and Mariella Moretti Foundation through which he is committed to the protection and promotion of the ancient Convento dell'Annunciata in Franciacorta.
